Pastoral care

Life can sometimes seem very challenging, for many reasons, and at St Christopher’s there are always people available to support and care for those who are having a difficult time. Our two Pastoral Assistants, Liz Hammond and Margaret Thompson, along with the clergy, are always happy to listen, to support and to pray.

We visit people who have been bereaved, people in hospital, those who are housebound, and those who just need a bit of extra support for a while.

Clergy and Pastoral Assistants take communion to local residential homes, and also to individuals who are housebound and cannot get to church.
We are always ready to respond to a request for help. Please get in touch if you would like to talk to us or meet with you – we’d be only too pleased to help.

Liz spent 25 years as a Pastoral Assistant in Southwark diocese.  Since moving to Hinchley Wood she has continued her training , and was authorised as a Pastoral Assistant in Guildford Diocese in 2012.  Her work at St Christopher’s includes visiting the elderly and bereaved and taking communion to a local residential home and to those who are housebound.   During our vacancy Liz is also leading prayers for vision and discernment as we seek God’s will for our church.
